Hi!

I'm confident the male is histrio, but I have never (previously/knowingly) seen a female.

What is the female? Is she histrio?

The dark triangular markings in the first 3 tergites look like she is, and she is enormous (for a drosophilid: she looks like she matches that male)

But! The shading at the tergite edges and the complete lack of markings on the final two tergites do not look like anything at all in Baechli et al 2004.

I'm left wondering limbata? Can anyone recognise her enough to just tell me?

It's that, or hope they mate, or that she lays eggs!

Thanks!

With its small oviscapt it is histrio female - in my opinion. There is some variability in the extent/presence of some spots. But of course you can try to rear that species.

Great!

The spacing of the oviscapt/epiproct looks right for the Baechli illustration too.

Let's see if lays!
