Ablabesmyia vs Tanypus

SW France this morning. Found motionless on the outside wall. Body size slightly above 8 mm. I thought it could be Ablabesmyia, but not so sure actually when I compare it to Tanypus especially the shape of the black mark on the wing. Can we tell them apart with this pic ? Scitochironomus, likely pictulus. It has the immobile gonostylus and long fore basitarsus typical of subfamily Chironominae. |
