Insect found at the end of July in a dry meadow, but close to a lake. Thank you in advance for any help.

Bump.

My most likely candidate is Villa hottentotta after some hair loss, but would be great to get a confirmation

By researching further, I found out there are 7 similar species of Villa found in Poland and an id from a photo to a species level is not possible.

Yup, you can view the wing from above (dorsal side) and from beneath (ventral side).

Hey Dipterists! Quick Question: Vein r2+3 bare beneath. I've always assumed that this is below as in when you look at the wing flat. Am I right? Thank youuuuu! Pfft
