Yesterday on Aegopodium/Urtica, approx. 3 mm. It started raining, when the fly climbed on my fingers, and didn't dare to use the flash. Ansbach, 2025-06-04, garden near old deciduous forest in Frankenhoehe Nature Park The best match I could find was female Ceranthia lichtwardtiana? Isn't the antenna much broader and darker in abdominalis? And what makes this fly a male? Looking forward for the check of your collection (but leisurely). Greetings, Eric |

It is, indeed, a female, based on antennal shape. I have only one female abdominals, so it is a bit difficult to comment. It seems a bit dark for licht. and I can't see the fourth post-DC, but it could be there. So to me unclear. Theo |

Thanks once more, Theo! I made many photos of this fly but most in bad quality. I will try to enhance the views of the scutum to see 4 or 3 dc.

My photos are too blurry, I have to wait for the next find! All magnifiyng or sharpening leads to a dead end (though this Tachinid is not as gray as others...), but beware: when you gaze long onto this Tachinid the Tachinid gazes onto you! Greetings, Eric |
