This thread was prompted by Philippe Moniotte's photos in: http://www.dipter...ad_id=8938 and there are further examples at: http://www.dipter...post_40524 http://www.dipter...post_29262 and no doubt others. The photos below show a male Tipula paludosa that had the misfortune to land in my pond (Buckinghamshire, UK), where it was promptly devoured by a gang of pond skaters Gerris gibbifer.
