Hi, I have photographed this small (3mm) fly last week on a daisy, 70km south of Paris. Any idea of its identity? Thanks for any help, FRV FRV attached the following image: [171.38Kb] |

Chloropidae, Oscinellinae: Conioscinella, probably C. frontella (Fallén, 1820), the most abundant and ubiquistic species in the genus. This specimen has sparsely and short haired palpi. A very similar unclarified sister species has dense and longer haired palpi appearing matt from a comparable distance. Type study is necessary to find out to which Fallén's name belongs. Read further threads on this taxon for more information.
