Hello! I have posted these photos already in my forum, but got no reply yet, so I try it here, too. These only 3-4 mm long Syrphids (?) were visiting Angelica sylvestris flowers in the forest two days ago (Ostwestfalen/Germany). Seem to be more than full with eggs . Could it be Sphegina sp.? Thanks in advance! Here the original post (in German) with more pics: http://insektenfo...eadid=9960 Juergen Peters attached the following image: [44.48Kb] Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Yes, indeed it is a female Sphegina, and it's very difficult to get it to species level. My GUESS would be a female Sphegina siberica, but that's just a guess! greetings, Greetings, Gerard Pennards |

But genus level is ok, it's again a new one for me .
