It appears to lack the postocular fringe, so I think it's more likely to be flavipes

Nice pics, Nikita! These clearly show the wider frons typical of flavipes and rufipes females, which (together with bipunctatus) lack the continuous fringe of erect pale hairs arount the occiput (back of the head). S. albibarbus, cuprarius and iridatus have the fringe and a narrower frons. The large female of bipunctatus has a pair of orange spots at the base of the abdomen (seldom absent), but the differences between flavipes and rufipes are more subtle. The lower pictures appear to be flavipes, but I wouldn't like to say for sure without seeing specimens. Tony ---------- Tony Irwin |

1. Thank you Tony. My impression (regarding material) - was that this hair present all occiput long, though shorter in central part. But I haven't material to compare. Hope to do it next Monday. 2. Did you put a mask on the face? you will never find Dryomyza flaveola Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
