Looks like australis or acrolophi. Males only IDable by DNA barcoding.

@ Valery :

How can I see, that this is probably not Chaetorellia jaceae ?

Can we expect Ch. australis in the Netherlands ?

I ask, because Berkamen is not to far away from the Netherlands.

To pick up this thread: Based on the distribution o food plants this should be C. jaceae.

Strongly depends on the host plant
Centaurea cyanus = australis
Centaurea stoebe, maculosa and synonyms = acrolophi
Centaurea nigra, jacea = jaceae

hello Velery,

thanks a lot for your answer to identify this Tephritidae.

We have a look to other fotos we take this day/hour in our external hard disk drive,
but we cannot identify the host plant,
so the name couldn't get clother as before.

greetings

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
