Toxomerus? Note the notched hind edge of the eye at the middle of head level. |

For a serious Dipterist it might not be too big a difficulty but they'd probably have to do some networking in the museums and research institutes to get the contacts to give them the necessary support. Export would undoubtedly be an issue too. Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |

Collecting in Brazil is exactly as described by Chris. I searched for photos of Toxonomerus, but in none of the pictures I found, was a fly like that which is above. Thanks, Mark, John Carr and Chris. Edited by Antonio Carlos on 10-12-2012 20:42 |

Hello, Antonio Carlos! Did you find out what is this Toxomerus? I have "some" of them in my collection as well, and I'm trying to identify. |

One expert on tropical Syrphidae is F. Christian Thompson at USNM: http://entomology...sonFC.html. Among other publications, he coauthored a paper on distinguishing the "larger" Toxomerus. |
