Found today in a marshy field at Little Ayre, Muckle Roe. I have one species of Notiphila in my checklist.....Notiphila cinerea Fall./nigricornis Stenhammer
Any idea if this could be it?

Regards Roger

All legs black, antennae with 1-2 basal segments black and apical segment darkened, face coloration bright contrasting to coloration of frons, looks like Notiphila brunipes R.-D.Cool

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
