Hello! At first I thought this 7 mm fly at our wintergarden (northwest Germany) was Fannia lustrator, but it seems to be Anthomyiidae. 1200x1200 picture: http://www.foto-u...ange_2.jpg Juergen Peters attached the following image: [90.74Kb] Edited by Juergen Peters on 05-05-2011 19:14 Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Perhaps this would be a candidate for Pegomya? The lack of a strong costal bristle at the break would fit this. I think I see crossed interfrontal setae (not sure, but I think you could tell in full res), and the key is definite about these being absent in male Pegomya, but I don't know if it applies to females. |

I have corrected it, so you might be able to see them (?). Yes, the interfrontals are there, but looking at female Pegomya in old posts, this seems to be OK. EDIT: Looking at the Pegomya female key, it seems some species have them and some not, so we are still in with a chance! Edited by Stephen R on 05-05-2011 23:53 |
