Platycheirus ambiguus?

Seen at the edge of a wood, Oxfordshire UK on 13th April. It doesn't seem to be Melangyna, so maybe Platycheirus ambiguus? Is the white face right for that species? Chris Webster attached the following image: [73.7Kb] |

It is one of the 'ambiguus'-group (covers several species much alike). Maybe ambiguus itself, but I wouldn't try to ID it based on a photo. |

Thanks Andre Guess I must check all those " P. albimanus" now till I find another specimen. |
