Taken today on a rhododendron leaf South Coast UK. 1.01mm long with a very odd appendage attached either to it's head or the front end of the abdomen. Any ideas? Thanks Brian V. Edited by LordV on 12-08-2006 17:28 |

I'm curious about yellow thing? Nectar? Egg? I think a t first time that was vestigial wing, but the dorsal wing doesn?t show nothing that resembles a vestigial wing. And antennas are more similar to hymenopters that flies, as well the eyes. |

Yes, it is a wasp. This one belongs to the family platygastridae, genus Inostemma! The horn on it's back is a receptacle for the ovipositor. Greetings, Edited by Gerard Pennards on 12-08-2006 17:57 Greetings, Gerard Pennards |
