I think this is a Platycheirus sp. Can anyone tell me if that is correct and whether it is possible to identify the species from this photo alone? Photographed on 26.6.09 in Wiltshire, Southwest UK. Platycheirus and, to make a wild guess, splendidus? or something similar. But unless an expert knows otherwise I suspect this will be tricky. Good shots of the (front) legs are usually needed for these. Tim |
