Is it possible to ID this small fly?
Near Copenhagen.
A single fly in garden on fig-leaves.

Thanks in advance,
Ole

This is Calycomyza humeralis (Roser, 1840) (Agromyzidae). From Denmark is known also species C. artemisiae (Kaltenbach, 1856), but this has first flagellomere small and round, scutum and scutellum greyish black, calypteres grey, margin and fringe margin and fringe black.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
