Hi All When this large fly blew into my conservatory at home, I kind of knew what it was. I have been bitten by one before and still have the mark. I think it is one of the large horseflies - Tabanus sp. It was big, very big. Suggesting T.sudeticus but the markings seem to me to look more like T.autumnalis which regardless of the name flies from May onwards and has been moving further north in the UK according to Steven Falk. Could someone please take a lookat the photo and see if they can ID? Gareth Apologies for the photo. I blame the lighting. Gman attached the following image: [81.07Kb] |
