17 September 2007, NB, Canada. Length: 7.5mm In a PM Susan asked me to post images of L. silvarum. This is the beast I ID'd as silvarum. Yes? No? I have a dorsal and a face shot if needed. Can I have a shot that shows me the width and proportions between the eyes please? The dorsal shot should tell me what I want to know I should think, but the more the merrier

Yep - male Lucilia silvarum . Can you submit all three pics to the gallery please Having looked a few of this specimen now, I find the darkened lower calypter is a good clue to tell you that silvarum is likely.

Thanks Susan. I have submitted all sylvarum and the 1 sericata. At the risk of flogging a dead horse - Diptera.info is getting to be impossible to use; very slow, constant crashes

Can I confirm something here (for the gallery) - from the experts?  Tony keeps calling these sylvarum and Susan calls them silvarum. In Europe we have silvarum but are we talking about a Nearctic species called sylvarum? |

that's easy, Chris. sylvarum is a typo. The correct is L. silvarum. In an Italian site they told :"Lucilia silvarum: In letteratura citata anche come sylvarum (grafia successiva incorretta)."  and: http://www.sel.ba...509&-find= |

Chris - so far as I know it is silvarum (Meigen) and sylvarum is a misspelling.
