Several small (3 mm) black flies today on the wall.
Male and female of Chironomidae ?

Yes. There are hundreds of them here (northwest Germany) at the walls, too, since weeks. I would also be very pleased, if a more specific ID would be possible, but I'm afraid it isn't... Sad

If you can catch a couple of males and post them to me (dry or in spirit), I may be able to put a name to them - it is largely down to finding a good match with the genitalia figures. Otherwise, it's best to just record this as "chironomid species".
