Hello.
This Sphaeroceridae was observed on march 11th in the north of yonne department (France). 1° the scutum aspect and its black bright color 2° the wing veins 3° the hind leg with the first and second tarsus. These 3 criteria are compatible with the Crumomyia genus. Is it correct for you ? All my thanks.

I do not understand the third critrion. I cannot see if there is a spur on the hind tibia. If it is there, then Crumomyia, if not Lotophila.

Thank you Paul BEUK.
Since I have not obtained a fine pict of the hind tibia, I can not tell you if there is a spur at the apex of the hind tibia.
Best regards, Jean-Michel Garel.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
