Hello!

One of the prettiest Scatophagas (?) I have seen; 12 mm large and very long winged. Could it be a male S. suilla? Found yesterday at a tree in our garden (Ostwestfalen/Germany).

This could well be a female Scathophaga scybalaria. The large size and long wings are typical for this species.

Very interesting! I never heard of that species, but according to "Entomofauna germanica" it occurs here. Thanks!
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
