Hello,

unfortunately I could only take this photo, before it flew away. I have looked at all small Syrphidae in literature, that occur here in early spring, but I could not find a species with such small white spots in combination with such a slender abdomen. Maybe a Platycheirus?
On meadow near a hedge and forest (northwest Germany).

Thanks, Carlo! That was my first thought, too. But the spots seemed too narrow.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol
