I have had one before which Michael Ackland thought was L. obtusa but stated the critical characters were not really visible so I had to find out what those characters were. http://diptera.in...ost_121123 You will see the critical difference on the next link.. http://diptera.in...post_90126 I have seen the fly again twice, today I managed to get some much closer shots of the side so I should be be to see for sure. I couldn't see the tiny bristles through the lens but I have yet to download the pics. http://cubits.org... |

Here's a couple of shots which hopefully will confirm L. obtusa.

Seems L.obtusa......I don't see any hairs on notopleural depression, we can see a dark vitta on scutum and lateral margins of scutellum with several rows of setulae.. but the strong rows of upwardly directed setae are very fine.....so i think it could be a female Joke Edited by javanerkelens on 12-04-2011 23:44 |

Thanks Joke. Is this one of those like in Tachinidae where there's little or no difference in the gap between the eyes? http://cubits.org... |
