 Syrphidae, Sphecomyia vespiformis?

I think that this 16-18 long fly is a Sphecomyia vespiformis but I can not find any pictures on internet that confirms my suggestion. Indeed, Sphecomyia vespiforme it is! So, now we have this species for the Syrphidae gallery!  Great species, isn't it.. You will find good pics of this species in the Finnish hoverflies book! |

Yes, it was a beauty but only basking in the shadows. I think it could be between 5-10 observations in Sweden of this more easterly species. Kurt Holmqvist |
