Only got a single shot of this 10-11mm fly. Flew away as I was positioning for a lateral view . I thought it was a large Scathophaga stercoraria but the head doesn't seem to match up to that. Or is this yet another variation in these flies???? EDIT; Confirmed as Scathophaga calida (male) on this thread....http://diptera.in...ost_121040 via links.... By Stephane Lebrun. If you were 'close to the beach' it may also be Scathophaga litorea...
