Only got a single shot of this 10-11mm fly. Flew away as I was positioning for a lateral view Frown.
I thought it was a large Scathophaga stercoraria but the head doesn't seem to match up to that. Or is this yet another variation in these flies????

EDIT; Confirmed as Scathophaga calida (male) on this thread....http://diptera.in...ost_121040 via links....

If you were 'close to the beach' it may also be Scathophaga litorea...

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
