Can someone help me with this, what I think is Hercostomus / Gymnopternus?

It was found in the Netherlands (2-7-2016).

The most striking are the metallic femurs and the large bristle on the ventral side of the front tibia,

Thanks in advance

Thanks Stefan,

That keys out nicely indeed (d'Assis Fonseca) when, in the question about the femora, i replace black with dark (metallic)

Dear Jan, the term black in the key means black, dark brown, metallic green. The opposite is yellow.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
