Hi, From a friend living in northeastern France (Alsace). Wetland near a small creek. He thinks it may be Pandivirilia caesia. Is that correct ? Marc Solari : France : Moosch : 68690 : 15/05/2020 Altitude : 417 m - Taille : 15 mm Réf. : 257218 Edited by evdb on 06-07-2020 15:25 Eugene |

With the extensive grey pollinosity on the abdomen I would expect melaleuca

Hello evdb & Paul, Experience has thaught me that the vague blackishness in the middle of the tergites is the feature of P. caesia. P. melaleuca is far more silverish, compact and misses the yellow wing base. See: https://diptera.i...ost_398414 Kind regards, Ectemnius |
