Since I was searching for more information on the genus Phortica I contacted Dr. Jan Maca and also asked him to look at the pictures of the Phortica specimens on www.diptera.info. His comment on this specimen was:

Dr. Jan Maca also wrote that this is a very good picture.

This one has partly darkened fourth tarsal segments and wholely pale posterior margin of the eye, and that definitely should be semivirgo according to the Swiss key.
And Dr M?ca should realise that this was probably not taken in the wild...

Check your Swiss key (and Fauna Ent. Scand. 39) again Paul, it's just the other way around!

So maybe you should finally change these to Ph. semivirgo Paul (I wonder if it applies to Jorge's pictures, too...)
