Term apex
Explanation Plural: apices. The end of something 'protruding from' or 'attached to' the (imaginary) center of the body or the end removed from the center of the body. For example, the end of the wing (apex of the wing), the abdomen (apex of the abdomen), the tibia (apex of the tibia), etc.

The adjective is apical. Apex is the opposite of base.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
