I thought this must be Campsicnemus, but the face is the wrong shape. It only appears to have a few acrostichal bristles at the front, but I may have a very worn specimen, so it is difficult to be sure that the acrostichals are not more extensive. Can anyone say what genus this is likely to be?

Hello Igor,
Last night I keyed this specimen out to Argyra vestita, but it looks quite different from any other Argyra's I have seen. Do you think it could be A.vestita?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
