Hello Is it possible to confirm the ID of this fly found yesterday in a calcareous grassland ? Basicosta are whitish, each mid tibia has 2 ad. Is the frons narrow enough to exclure species as L. regalis ? This fly is much smaller than the usual Lucilia sericata that I find on flowers. The keys by Mihalyi (http://publicatio...69_181.pdf) and Rognes (https://www.resea..._in_Norway) give a detailed description of shape and distribution of setae and hairs on the tergites, which in your picture, to me, match L. richardsi. Being no Calliphoridae expert, that's all I can say... Regards, Sundew |

Thank you Sundew. I used Mihalyi's key but I didn't know Rognes's publication that is more precise about setae on abdomen and frons width. Indeed, it looks good for richardsi. To be confirmed... |
