yesterday I found this fly in a forest in Germany in Saxony. Nowickia ferox ? Is it a female or male?

Hi, it should be a female Nowickia ferox - I think, the orbitals are proclinate.

and the claws are short and the abdomen has a (nearly) interrupted black vitta --> female indeed !
