Israel today I'm new to Diptera identification. I tried to get the Family name with Intkey database of UK Diptera but failed. Can you identify so I could understand were am I wrong? zcuc attached the following image: [55.96Kb] |

A small beginner question. I found many matching keys in the above images both to Anthomyiidae and Fanniidae the diffrent should be in Vein 6. Anthomyiidae should have vein reaching the wing margin and Fanniidae should have vein that stop short. My question did I numbered the veins currectly? it looks like Vein 6 reaching margin but Vein 7 stop before. thanks zcuc attached the following image: [104.12Kb] |

You are quite correct. Vein 6 is the 1st anal vein, often just called the anal vein.

Thanks a lot Kahis, I took the keys from Britain family identification but I guess in most cases it is also good for Israel. |
