Hi,

I think all the characteristics fit well with Leucophora cinerea, is it possible to confirm my identification?

If it is male and there is no av seta on the midtibia….L. cinerea seems right.
(but collected on 27-6-2019...it seems very late for a Leucophora, mostly they are very active in spring)

Thank you Johanna! I have noticed that Leucophora like this are active much later in the year than other species in the genus. On June 4th 2012 I photographed and collected the specimen below (from the same site). I sent it to you and you also identified it as L. cinerea.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
