Hi,
Recently I found the dead body of a slender black and yellow wasp. The legs were damaged, but the overall impression is still good so that an identification should be possible. I photographed the wasp under a stereo microscope, the scale gives mm distances.
Thanks, Sundew

Well, friends, I photographed a lot of Mellinus specimens (mostly hunting females), and they all had more yellow bands on the abdomen, so that black and yellow areas were about fifty-fifty. This one appears black with only one prominent (discontinuous) band, two lateral spots and a yellow tip. Is there such a great variability?
Greetings, Sundew

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
