I think I have this one keyed out to Neodexiopsis using the Manual of the Nearctic Diptera but, with my luck with muscids, it could be a butterfly.

body ~3.5mm, ~5mm to wingtips
I've found many of these flies just sitting on various flat concrete surfaces in a semi-urban/suburban area – wooded areas, lawns, some ponds and small creeks, etc.

Thanks for the help!

Regards
Steve

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
