Hello everybody. Y had problem to include my photo, but y solved it
Y think this fly gelongs to Euxesta genus. Can you indivualize the specie ?
o confirmarme el género, al menos?
Thank you very much !!!

Being in the middle of revision, I must object.

In fact, it was found that there is no such species, or better say, what we used to call annonae is something different.

First, the type of Musca annonae Fabricius is what we used to call Euxesta eluta Loew.

Review of USNM and BMNH stuffunder the name "Euxesta annonae" shows there are 4 species of Euxesta, one Chaetopsis and one Stenomyia under it, more often what is actually Amethysa quadrifasciata Macquart, but the rest is a mess of species with similar wing pattern but entirely different genitalia.

So please wait until a detailed revision is done. Unfortunately, I do not have an acceess to wider materials from the USNM expet a few examples on loan.
It may take long...

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
