Hello,
On 22 and 23 October 2018 in the south of France, on ivy.
Several males (with feathery antennas) and several females.
A little less than 2 mm
Are they the same species and can the genus be identified?
Thank you for your help.

Thank you very much John,
For their reproduction, I read that they need the living water of a river. This one is 500 meters from my house. Chironomidae can therefore go far enough, perhaps to find their food!

Subfamily Orthcladiinae includes some terrestrial species.

Thank you very much for that clarification.
It is therefore more likely to be one of the terrestrial species.
And the adult really appreciates ivy!
