Hello, Luc Bettinelli : France : Arc-et-Senans : 25610 : 22/11/2024 Altitude : 236 m - Taille : 5 mm ? Réf. : 352490 this male of Chironomidae, I classify him among the large subfamily Orthocladiinae, in particular because of the great resemblance to this one which had been diagnosed as such. By consulting this page, I noted a possible correspondence (habitus, wing venation...) with the genus Chaetocladius (I had also been eyeing Smittia but the venation doesn't seem to match), knowing that it will be difficult to go further than the subfamily. What do you say? Thank you in advance. |

Orthocladiinae. Males of Smittia normally have a subapical seta on the last flagellomere. I don't see one. |

Thank you already for the confirmation of the subfamily and for the information on Smittia. What about Chaetocladius ? |

I can't say whether it is Chaetocladius. |

Well understood, we will stay at the Orthocladiinae level; Thank you for taking the time to look at my post and respond. |
