Found in Horten, Vestfold county, Norway in the end of june. I have used a key of Norwegian species at internet, https://www.artsdatabanken.no/Pages/224182 an end up with Choerades femorata. But this species is not yet found in Norway. Could it be this species, or is it marginata?

Hello, in many countries C. femorata is still regarded as a synonym of C. marginata, the two are very similar. In the NL only marginata ia accepted at the moment but almost all pictures (and the specimens in my collection) are femorata. In my opinion a good publication in a renomated paper is necessary to solve this problem. In respect to your specimen we also need to see the ratio of the antennal segments. The white face is an indication for femorata.
Greetings,

It seems that the scape is a bit over 3x the pedicel, shiny facial hair is white > femorata

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
