Although a bit out of focus (I only had my Phone on me), I think an expert can tell which species this would be. It is an enormous specimen (give or take 3 cm) and twice the size of a Chrysops. It was sitting/resting on my leg on a terrace near Spala (51.540, 20.139) in Central Poland on July 11, 2018 (see also https://observati.../159978308). Looks a bit like Tabanus bovinus, but I'm not really an expert Thanks in advance. Ton atylotus attached the following image: [235.59Kb] Edited by atylotus on 18-07-2018 17:14 |
