Hello, it is a Stichopogon sp. something near elegantulus, I don't dare to say more :-)

If I am not mistaken, antennae are entirely red, wich suggest S. scaliger. Stichopogon chrysostoma is also said to have red antennae, but that sp. appears to be missing from the Ukrainian fauna, the nearest published records being from the Lower Volga Region and Cyprus Smile

Greetings,

Henrik

It is a start and it wouldn't be strange if chrysostoma is present in Ukraine

All of these shots show S. scaliger (male), IMO.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
