Hi, This monster (probably Tabanidae) attacked me during my work in the field in French Guiana so I had to react...... Normaly I am attacked during the dry season by another species, But now we are in rain season and this species was waiting for me. Does somebody believe that we can find the genus and may be the specific name of this neotropical ? Length of body is 14 mm. Edited by Bernard Perthuis on 25-01-2020 21:04 |

It is in the antarticus group, which has several species. The checklist you mention is interesting, but preliminary. So ask the author, Krolow. Theo |

Hi, I asked the brazilian author TK Krolow, and he asked to the co-author LA Henriques (Manaus) who says it is Tabanus fumomarginatus Hine. Could this match your informations ? |
