Slovakia, Banska Bystrica, 12.05.2018, open-canopy forest (both wet and dry).

When taking the picture, I was thinking of Didysmachus picipes because of an overall dark look, but now I have noticed a row of bristles on the inner side of femora.

Thank you in advance

I photographed also a male at the same day, however, some 500 metres from the site of the first picture (12.05.2018). It is not necessarily the same species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
