Hallo,

Can I recommend the following site?

http://ccw.naturalis.nl/

Click on Literature and fill in Nephrotoma as the title. Then ENTER.

The first link is in Dutch but gives a table for all the species in the Netherlands and Belgium. Maybe with a little help from Google Translate??

Super! I thank you very much, James. I truly appreciate this post. I have all ready downloaded 15 pdf files in the list. Good stuff.

I have no problem reading and understanding Nederlands. I learned the language many years ago. I don't speak it or write it very often but I have a solid understanding of it. I have an electronic copy of Van Dale Groot Woordenboek Van De Nederlandse Taal.

I hope that you have a pleasant day, James. tot ziens Smile

I looked at the pdf from Oosterbroek and so far the best match is Nephrotoma submaculosa. I am happy to have some keys to Tipulidae. Thank You all very much.

I will look at this specimen under the microscope to confirm. Not today but soon.

If you speak Dutch, here is some more stuff you might be interested in. I am a member of a Dutch site so I am giving you the links to their Diptera ID resources.

1. https://waarneming.nl/pdf_downloader.php
these are illustrated pdfs for a number of families.

2. https://forum.waarneming.nl/smf/index.php?topic=35201.0
This is the link to the ID resources on the Dutch forum.

3. https://waarneming.nl/
With this link you can browse the photos for species recorded in NL. Just type the name in the
search box at the top right. When you get to the species page, click on ALLEEN GOEDGEKEURDE
WAARNEMINGEN. (There are 214 validated photos of N. submaculosa).

I hope you find something that you like/don't have/didn't know.
