Please, can you help my to identify this fly? I suppose, it is Tehreva, but I don't know much about Diptera.
Date: 28.05.2017.
Localization: Poland, Mazovia, near Warsaw.
I found this fly on the humid soil.

Are you sure? How can I tell the difference between A. annulata and other flies belonging to the family Therevidae?

Of course I'm not sure, it was merely a suggestion going on how it looked in comparison. But a quick look on the interwebz told me it can only be identified by checking the male genitalia [thanks to Theo Zeegers in this thread]

Sometimes suggestions don't get a reply..

So maybe some expert might reply in this case.

The white 'Thereva' in which females lack calli have been split off into other genera, like Acrosathe. annulata is the only one in Central Europe, though eventually baltica might turn up on the Pomorze coast.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
