Hi,

I think this is a Platystomatidae that I have photographed in La Réunion Island (Nez de Boeuf, ~1000m).

I have two questions:

1) Is it really a Platystomatidae? Because I browse through the gallery and found no match.

2) Could you help me with the ID?

Thank-you
Benoit

Looks to be a Neoardelio or Parardelio (Platystomatidae: Plastotephritinae), but the species identification is hardly available et all; I have series of similar species from Madagascar, but they all need a revision (OR and AT fauna remains untouched for > 100 years). And -- certainly -- not Ulidiidae.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
