Most of these small patterned creatures are usually Chironomid midges, but this particular one looks quite differnt with long, but aplumous anternnae. A wierd Cecidiomyiidae? Edited by Xespok on 06-10-2005 16:03 |

It is a fungus gnat (Mycetophilidae), but I see too little of the right details (on either picture) to make out the genus.

Thx Gerard and Paul I relocated the images to here: http://xespok.net/gallery/Mycetophilidae What details should be more visible. I think these photos are not too bad for the size of these creatures ;-) Edited by Xespok on 06-10-2005 15:44 |

Hi Xespok, The same problem, the resolution is not high enough. Maybe you should send the high reosultion image of photo no. 6 in the page you linked to. Best use . And you should update the link in your first post as it does no longer lead to the same species. Edited by Paul Beuk on 06-10-2005 15:48 Paul - - - - Paul Beuk on https://diptera.info |

It is most likely a species of the subfamily Gnoristinae. The visible wing venation resembles that of Depranocercus but only two species are known: one from the Nearctic and one from northern Scandinavia. I will kepp this one in mid and if I find out something, I will let you know.
