Hi,

Center of France, august 29th 2014
With these short black hairs on gena, confined to area below level of lower eye margin and distance between eyes narrower than flagellomere, could it be Musca larvipara (male) ?
Thanks for help

Hello Eugéne, we cannot see the suprasquamal ridge clearly - so following Gregor et al's Central European key we cannot virtually decide between autumnalis and larvipara.
But the fronto-orbital plates do not touch and I agree with your statement about the short black hairs on gena being below the lower eye margin. So I think you are right with M. larvipara!
Greetings, Eric Kloeckner

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
