This pair (in pre-copula I presume) was photographed in Sanzoles (Zamora) Spain, in a calcareous meadow with high rushes during the middle of July 2006. Size about 7 mm. I dare to say.... If it's 7 mm. it's bound to be Cylindromyia auriceps, based on the spinulae on the venter of the female and the extensive dusting on the thorax. Difficult to see, though, so there is some reservation from my part. Theo |
